We did a lot of peering through gaps at Edinburgh Castle.

We climbed Arthur’s Seat, then visited Holyroodhouse, where the Queen stays when in Edinburgh. She wasn’t home.

Cycled to Wedge Co-op for salmon, Minnesota asparagus, and focaccia. I like to spend our money in a welcoming place.

Gathered gear. We even have room for a frisbee and a hacky sack in our backpacks.

Cycled between Rushford and Houston in southern Minnesota, then restored ourselves with lefse.

A good start to the day: pain suisse and coffee, no charge at Spyhouse. An earlier customer was paying it forward.

Today’s trip: mailbox to recycling bin, unopened. I try to approach each journey as a prototype for the next one.

Cycled a long loop to Victory 44 for dinner.

I’m satisfying a craving for Japanese comfort food: katsudon (panko pork cutlets), short-grain rice, curry sauce.

A storm was coming in from the west as I cycled across Stone Arch Bridge towards downtown Minneapolis.
