Cycled the Cannon Valley Trail one-way to Red Wing where we had pie à la mode.

Walked past the remains of a travel agency. I’m grateful the Internet gives me the power to research and actualize my travel dreams.

Got my Tuesdays-only 20% senior discount at Coastal Seafoods. They have the freshest seafood: most of their business is wholesale to restaurants and supermarkets.

Cycled beyond the end of the line.

Watched “Yurusarezaru mono” (“Unforgiven”) set in Japan’s brutal 19th century frontier, Hokkaido. It parallels America’s West: settlers (from Honshu), indigenous people (Ainu), and destitute Samurai rather than washed-up gunslingers. In 2013 I visited this 1870’s frontier home.

Cycled under an orange sun to St. Paul’s Lake Como to walk with a friend. Forest fires, over 1,000 miles to the west, are degrading the air quality in Minneapolis.

Dwight gave the wheel a spin, and we got a 15% discount at Rosenthal Furniture, downtown Minneapolis.

I’m buying basil by the handful, thanks to the annual tomato glut. I appreciate the year-round basil bin at Seward Co-op.

Cycled past a 10 million-gallon tank, the water supply for Roseville, Minnesota.

Cycled to an LRT station to look at a concrete paver block mosaic. Unfortunately, it had been replaced with poured concrete. Nearby, at an American Indian training facility, I found a new mural.

Filled out a ballot for the Minnesota Primary. The election will determine who is on the November ballot for both US Senators, US and Minnesota Representatives, Governor, Minnesota Attorney General, County Commissioner, County Sheriff, and two Minneapolis

A drippy day, well spent: haircuts, lunch at our local (Maxwell’s) and a nap.

Explored Tangletowns in both Minneapolis and St. Paul, where the streets wind and ignore the grid. Found this 1887 Cass Gilbert home in St. Paul’s Tangletown. Later, Gilbert was the architect for the MInnesota Capitol, the Woolworth Building in New York, and the US Supreme Court.
