Daily Microblog
Hello Toto
Today, I have one less reason to visit Japan: installed washlets. They’re ubiquitous in Japan.
Shortest Move, Ever
Our shortest move, ever. Movers moved our stuff one block.
No Snow, Frigid Weather
As the temperature soared (slightly) above zero (Fahrenheit), emerged to buy supplies for dinner. Walked past the mound with spiral path at Gold Medal Park, which was devoid of snow.
First Night, New Home
First night in our new home. Tried to keep track of a movie featuring Marvel Comics characters.
We Like Desktop Computers
Set up our old computer in its new home. Threaded cables down a conduit in the wall.
Minneapolis Modernism
Took delivery of furniture, including this bench for our entry. I love the asymmetry and the playfulness. It’s built from a 1939 design by Ralph Rapson (1914-2008), Minneapolis modernism architect. It looks ready to rack, but it’s actually extraordinarily solid.
Empty Spaces
Closed on our apartment, started filling the empty space.
Ard Godfrey House
Peered through windows of the 1848 Ard Godfrey House, the oldest surviving frame structure in Minnesota. It’s open to visitors in the summer.
Underneath the Arches
Posted Underneath the Arches.
Rail Shed
Wandered through open doors at the Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel. The hotel has recently opened this lovely event space in the former rail shed of the Milwaukee Road Depot. The chimneys vented smoke from steam locomotives.
Going Boldly
Climbed over a barrier, then walked down rickety wooden stairs, avoiding gaps where boards had been. Looked up at Stone Arch Bridge.
Paisley the Porcupine
Failed to find Paisley the Porcupine at our local Trader Joe’s. I did find organic broccoli and decent Marlborough wine.
Ice Cream And A Cherry
Walked with a friend through the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden on our way to ice creams at Sebastian Joe’s.
Edging Toward a Minimalist Wardrobe
Posted Edging Toward a Minimalist Wardrobe. (I’m not there yet.)
All Packed
Ran out of things to put in boxes. We don’t start moving our home until next week. Meanwhile we need stuff for daily living.
Traces of the Past
Stared at traces of the past while I sipped coffee at Mill City Museum’s café.
