At the start of our cycle ride, looked across Ft. Snelling State Park towards the airport. Followed the Minnesota River, then Mississippi to downtown St. Paul. Cycled back, mainly on trails on the opposite bank. Click through for an extra photo of a (potentially) high voltage eagles’ nest.

On the kitchen counter: stale bread we’d been collecting in the freezer. Tonight, one of my favorite salads: Italian bread salad.

Came home to hats and gloves airing on the bed. Dwight had decided it was probably safe to launder and put away cold-weather gear until the Fall. As they say, back in the old country: “Dinnae cast a clout till May be oot.” In Minnesota, mid-June is safer.

Wrote to each Hennepin County Commissioner asking them to right a wrong. The $67 million (annual budget) county public library system no longer provides GED and ESL adult literacy services. Recent immigrants have lost an important step-up in life, and I now need to go elsewhere for expert assistance with tutoring. Wake-up weather presaged a steamy couple of days. This afternoon I imagined myself in New Orleans as I rode my bike along leafy streets with a stop for ice cream.

Upgraded the water supply line to an industrial pallet, part of our “garden on wheels.” It doesn’t look like much, but it brought together disparate parts. Got with the family for sushi. The younger nephew, now 13, was suitably attired.

Walked over to Theatre in the Round for “Perfect Arrangement.” Set in 1950, sham marriages, State Department witch hunts against LGBTQ people and “moral turpitude.” I fear people who want America to be like this again.

Nursed a Surly Furious waiting for Dwight to show from his greenhouse gig. He’d been nursing seedlings from an almost-extinct Hawaiian plant that he’d previously pollinated. I was happy to wait.

After exploring just about every other possibility, finally figured out why water wasn’t reaching one set of drippers in a planter in our building. Stayed away from kink puns.
