Things will be Hopping
Cycled past evidence our neighborhood is going to be hopping this weekend. (Stone Arch Bridge Festival.)
River Trails
Cycled up-river as far as Interstate 694. Crossed the Mississippi on a bike path on the I694 bridge then cycled back.
Grateful for Normal
Grateful for Normal. Cycled to Longfellow Grill for lunch. The vaccines keep on giving.
Breakfast Sandwich with a View
Cycled over to Lake Harriet for a breakfast sandwich with a view at Bread and Pickle.
Coffee under a Bicycle
Chilled with a cuppa under a bicycle at Honour Coffee before getting back on my bicycle.
Maybe in my Next Life…
At Gold Medal Park, towards the end of our walk, these delightful young people asked if we’d like to join the exercise group. Promised I’d consider doing that in my next life
Assembling Musubi
Assembled musubi for lunch. Made a glaze for the fried spam with port and shoyu.“I cook with wine, sometimes I even add it to the food.”― W. C. Fields.
A Request from Her Majesty
I now have Her Britannic Majesty watching my back: my British passport arrived today. I’ll usually travel on my US passport, but a second passport might help me to work around nationality-dependent Covid restrictions.
Irrigation Manifold
Posted How to Build a Houseplant Irrigation Manifold.
Peonies With a Story
Peonies on display in our home from a bush Dwight’s grandmother planted in North Dakota maybe 100 years ago. A few years ago we moved the bush to his sister’s yard near the Twin Cities. It has a pleasant scent, unlike modern hybrids.
Never, Never Gonna Give Ya Up
Sometimes we just go with the flow with YouTube Music’s recommendations for dinnertime music.
Mississippi River Trail
A friend met me at Fort Snelling LRT Station, then drove to Spring Lake Park on the Mississippi, downriver from St. Paul. Cycled part of the beautifully engineered Mississippi River Trail across tallgrass prairie and along river bluffs with great views.
Tower Tunnel
Early morning cycle, Tower Tunnel, Minneapolis North Loop.
Interior Landscape
Worked on expanding our houseplant irrigation system. My work (automated irrigation and lighting) is almost invisible. Dwight’s work (interior landscape) is very visible. The chairs are meant for the balcony, but, particularly in this hot weather, we’re happy to sit here.
Avoiding Heat
Suddenly, early morning cycle rides are appealing. I was on the trail, today, soon after 7:00 a.m.: the temperature was already in the 70’s and it was delicious.
