New Culinary Heights

Achieved new culinary heights: assembled Spam Musubi, a fusion food popular in Hawaii. Minnesota: Spam (fried). The can makes an excellent musubi mold. Japan: soy sauce and nori. California: sushi rice. Next time we’ll add mirin to the rice to make it stickier.

Onions, Carrots, Celery

After a lot of chopping, reduced 8 pounds of onions, carrots, and celery to mirepoix. Most of it goes in the freezer to ease the assembly of future meals.

I’m optimistic, spring is just around the corner. Assembled a natural gas grill while plows cleared last night’s snow. There were no parts left over when I finished.

A Suitcase Finds New Purpose

My old suitcase headed for the exit. It now belongs to a friend and her daughter. They make felt mittens they’ll display in the open suitcase at shows. I posted recently about this vulcanized fiber case needing a new home.

Unwanted Electrical Outlet

“Disappeared” an electrical outlet. There’s an outlet behind the pillar, but the developer had added an outlet to the middle of this wall. Today I removed it and Dwight painted a cover plate. (Minneapolis building codes don’t allow drywall over a live electrical box.) Now, the wall, the plate, and the Guthrie Theater all match.
