Eggplant Parmigiana
Tonight eggplant Parmigiana. I blast the sliced eggplant in the microwave for 6 minutes at 60% to get it on its way before breading with Japanese panko crumbs then shallow-frying.
New Year in Madrid
Decided 5:00 p.m. was late enough to see in the new year, so “went to Spain” (7 hours ahead of Central time) by streaming Madrid TV. Grape Lady squeezed booze out of one of the plastic grapes; love that cork. Once it was 2021 in Spain, made paella for dinner.
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme
Made the mistake of asking The Google to play upbeat music while I showered. This stuck me with a Cher/Abba earworm: “Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight.” I’m now trying to mitigate it with Donna Summer: “Someone left the cake out in the rain… .”
Simple Gratitude
Looking forward to a day of simple traditions, including our minimal Christmas tree, with gratitude.

Taunted by Baking
The smell of baking taunted me all afternoon. Dwight went through 1½ pounds of butter, and I overheard him asking Google to add sugar to our shopping list. ‘Tis the season.
The Prom
Movie night tonight: pure confection, with a dollop of Izzy’s ice cream in the intermission. The Prom, just released on Netflix.
Minneapolis Glows
Looked out at a glowing Minneapolis skyline before watching a recording of last night’s Saturday Night Live. We’re always in REM sleep by the time the show airs live.

Had fun with a pop rivet gun and sheet metal shears making adjustable mounts to attach fans to our grow rack.
