Today, it was back to school, volunteering in a classroom–a safe space where I learn to be kind and patient. I inquired about the school’s policy if ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agents show up on campus. Currently, there is no formal policy in place, which is a significant concern in our current climate. In the interim, we have this handout. *(With apologies to Eugene O’Neill.)

O’Neill reference took me a minute.
Ha! I guess I’d call 911 if a student died (Iceman symbolizing death, of course). I have had an interesting correspondence with my school board rep, learning about school district data practices. Also, it turns out the school where I volunteer does have a policy that keeps ICE agents outside the school’s secure area until a school district lawyer is present. Unlike other school policies I’ve found online, this policy has not been properly communicated in the school where I volunteer. That will be remedied. I wonder how your church would handle this situation: schools and churches have been off-limits, but that may change soon.
