Winter staycation, Minneapolis.

Hiked coastal trail, then late lunch at Duke’s (Lihue) before heading for the airport. LIH–HNL, HNL–SEA, SEA–MSP.

Kalalau Valley. We paused here then hiked swamp trails. We’ve backpacked to this valley then camped by the ocean.

Small town America, on our walk back to our cottage after dinner at Wrangler’s. We dined there almost 30 years ago.

Waimea, Kaua’i. I love old Hawai’i. We’re staying nearby in a former sugar plantation cottage.

Wai Koa Loop Trail included this large mahogany plantation, tropical fruit orchards, community gardens, a fish farm.

On my hike, crawled through a hole to a cave which led to this “oasis” sinkhole.

On the 13th day of Christmas, my true love went to work and I went to LAX where I’m waiting for a flight to Lihu’e.

Today’s temperatures are below -7F (-22C). It’s a good day to be inside, packing my large backpack.
