Spotted these on my walk through Uptown and around Lake Calhoun. LEGO, chalk, and Post-Its may be transitory, but the messages are enduring.

Booked flights for my round-the-world journey. Choices we make in the USA directly affect the lives of people in the places I’m visiting.

Today it was time for a trim. In 2012, our hairdresser’s son worked full-time to successfully bring marriage equality to Minnesota.

Paused at Sheridan Veterans Memorial where plaques remind us of each war. This modest memorial honors all veterans and does not glorify war.

Walked past Uppercut Gym, the only boxing gym in the USA solely owned and operated by a woman. There’s still many glass ceilings to smash.

Enjoyed lunch at Tao Natural Foods, a place that embraces diversity.

Killed time in wetlands opposite Methodist Hospital before an appointment. Afterwards I walked and walked and didn’t want to stop walking.

Walked past polling places on my way to Downtown. I voted early by mail. A strange election.

It was a day to wear shorts and a tee and go cycling to a place where “small” means two scoops.

Today, our tomatoes continued to ripen.

Harvested kale for dinner tonight. This promises to be the longest growing season ever recorded.
