Got to Start Somewhere
Rain has set in, so we canceled a 4-day trip “Up North” and went plant-shopping instead. It’s a start.
Huge Water Tank
Cycled up a hill to St. Paul’s water supply.
Hot Shower
Sometimes a hot shower is all I need. Got caught in the rain while cycling.

Bike Rack Installation
Finally installed the bike rack on our car. Through choice I haven’t even driven a car since January, and that was to take our other car on a one-way trip to a nonprofit.
All Square
Stopped for lunch at a busy South Minneapolis restaurant. All the employees have been in prison, but today they get a living wage, training in personal and professional development, mentoring, and access to mental health and wellness services. The sandwich and service were great.
Spoonbridge and Cherry
After cycling past the knockoff Spoonbridge and Cherry skateboard jump ramp last week it was time to revisit the original sculpture.

Urban Rail Trail
Cycled past lakes, a creek, and a river, but the ride would not be complete without some urban rail trail.
Bauhaus Brewery
Cycled over to Bauhaus Brewery for dinner with friends. In addition to beer, we were sustained by the best, most tender slow-cooked brisket from a smoker on a trailer.
Skateboard Jump
On a cycle ride with a friend visiting from the UK, spotted the Spoonbridge and Cherry sculpture reimagined as a skateboard jump ramp.
Balancing Act
Successfully prototyped a pressure balancing system for watering indoor plants. The highest plants are over 6 feet above the lowest plants. I was able to adjust the system so that each dripper gets similar water pressure.
Ramen for Lunch
Satisfied my craving at lunch.
Historic Markers
Cycled through St. Paul’s Dayton’s Bluff neighborhood past Indian burial mounds built 1,500 to 2,000 years ago, and a historic aircraft beacon erected in 1929. The beacon still has a rotating light at the top. It’s one of many that once lit the route between Minneapolis and Chicago.
Abandoned Train Station
Cycled through an abandoned train station.
