Tip-the-Fridge Week Finale
Prepared the final meals for Tip-the-Fridge Week: strata, ready to bake; risotto patties, ready to fry; vegetable soup. Stale bread, leftover vegetables, homemade stock, and leftover risotto all came from the freezer. I used up all our eggs and most of our milk.

Basement Classroom
It will be 2020 before I can be a tutor again in the basement classroom with a fireplace. The 105-year-old building is about to close for a few months for renovation.
Fresh Beer and Healthy Food
On our energetic cycle ride, Surly Brewery appeared just in time for lunch. Our quinoa salad bowls were excellent, as was the beer.
Revitalized Cheese-Ends
Tip-the-Fridge Week, Day 2. Baked four-cheese mac and cheese. Had five cheese-ends been loitering in the fridge, it would’ve been five-cheese mac and cheese.

Posted Snapshots: Superior Hiking Trail 2019.
Wild Rivers
We’ve walked beside several wild rivers this week. Temperance River towards the end of our final hike before we head home tomorrow.
Fungi
Fungi clustered, we hiked.
CCC Trails
The first part of our hike took us past several waterfalls as Cascade River tumbled towards Lake Superior. The trails were constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930’s. I’d applaud the return of the Corps.
Looking towards Lake Superior
On our hike, today, looking towards Lutsen and Lake Superior.
Fair-Weather Hiking
Today we were fair-weather hikers. When there was a pause in the rain, we took to the trail.
Blue Daubs
Blue daubs guided us, as they do every year around this time. Superior Hiking Trail near Lutsen.
Loading the Garmin
Loaded maps into my Garmin. We’ve planned a bunch of hikes in the coming weeks.
