It was 6°F (-14°C) outside when I woke up. Looked out at ice accumulating on the Mississippi and decided I’m not going anywhere this morning. The “rock” sticking out of the ice is a slowly crumbling pier for the old 10th Avenue Bridge. The bridge was torn down for scrap in 1943.

Return of Winter
Winter returned as I walked home.
Brief Respite From Winter
Took my bicycle out for a spin before winter returns later this week.
Snowdrifts
Walked in heavy snow to my Wednesday gig. Snowdrifts were surprisingly deep under this overpass.
Someone Else Did the Driving
As usual, let someone else do the driving.
No Snow, Frigid Weather
As the temperature soared (slightly) above zero (Fahrenheit), emerged to buy supplies for dinner. Walked past the mound with spiral path at Gold Medal Park, which was devoid of snow.
Covered Bridge
The University of Minnesota’s covered walkway across the Mississippi provided a welcome respite from rain and slush. Later, I was glad to warm up on one of the light rail trains that run on the lower deck of this bridge.
Patient Canoes
While I walked, canoes waited for the ice to melt on Lake of the Isles, Minneapolis.
Horse-Drawn Carriage on Stone Arch Bridge
Walked back from dinner at Cafe Alma.
Splash of Color
Last night’s snow was sliding off Mill City Museum as I walked in search of splashes of color.
