Wot No Turkey?

Spent most of the afternoon making veggie moussaka as the main dish for tomorrow’s Thanksgiving. Porcini mushrooms, lentils and chickpeas nicely fill the meat space. The dish required red wine (3 cups); the cook required some too, but a much lesser amount.

Shh, Don’t Tell Anyone

We’ll top our Thanksgiving pie with Cool Whip, a somewhat controversial choice, though we secretly enjoy it. Lactose is not among its 17+ ingredients, the primary reason I purchased a tub. To my surprise, I still received a discount at checkout although I’d only picked up one tub, resisting a BOGO (Buy One Get One free) offer. I have my limits: BOGO offers can be wasteful.

Pieceful Thanksgiving

With Dwight immersed in his Sunday plant-care routine, I assembled the first 400 pieces (out of 800) of a LEGO dried flower centerpiece for Thanksgiving. The end result, though lacking some apparently superfluous parts, seems OK to me.

Best With Bacon

Kicked off Thanksgiving dinner with our Holiday go-to: warm Brussels sprouts salad. It’s a lot of hand-chopping, which is more consistent than a food processor. It would be raw vegan without the essential bacon, Parmesan, and sautéed shallots(!).Recipe.

Seeing Red

Filled my backpack with exactly what we need, and no more, for Thanksgiving dinner. For us, a small amount of cranberries goes a long way.

Marilyn Merlot

The 2001 Marilyn Merlot we’d been holding onto most of this millennium for a special occasion was corked. We substituted a cheeky young Pinot Noir to complement our slow-cooked turkey thighs. We’ll reduce Ms Merlot to a syrup to pour over ice cream
