Nephew time, Mom’s away. We first used sharp knives to carve pumpkins. Then we cut up an old towel to make wicks to burn vegetable oil.

Bleacher Uncles
Walked over to the Vikings stadium to serve as bleacher uncles. Our ten-year-old nephew was playing football, a dot in our field of view.
Bowling with the Boys
We took the nephews to a bowling alley until it stopped raining. I’ve never bowled, which did not stop me from offering advice.
Tornado Damage
Went cycling with our nephews. This is their playset, destroyed by a tornado on Tuesday. Their Forest Lake home had exterior damage.
Framing the Future
Today I came across some of my deceased aunt’s papers: degree certificates and an insurance policy. The policy covered two fur coats and a mink stole, total declared value UK£270 in 1965, circa UK£4,700 (US$6,000) in 2017. She saved the papers for my safekeeping, presumably in perpetuity. Handed over £20 notes from a family friend in the UK to my nephews. I made them work to receive the equivalent in dollars.
