Superior Hiking Trail, Spring 2021

It felt strange, this past week, to pack our bags then drive up the interstate to Duluth. This was only the second time we’ve been away from home in almost fourteen months.

In Duluth we headed for the hills to walk part of the Skyline Trail before checking into a hotel for one night.

Looking down on Duluth from the Skyline Trail, the St. Louis River, and, across the river, Wisconsin.

Next day we drove up the North Shore of Lake Superior. At Tettegouche State Park we stretched our legs for a few hours.

From Tettegouche, it was a short drive to Bluefin Bay, a resort on the shore of Lake Superior. We stayed three nights, getting in two days of walking sections of the Superior Hiking Trail.

We’ve rented a one-bedroom condo at Bluefin Bay many times. The resort is comfortable, and meets our needs with a bar and two restaurants.

We’ll be back in October with our nephews and their dad.
