Moving in a Time of Lockdown

Walking

March 25, 2020. An eerily quiet Minneapolis/St. Paul MSP, walking towards the light rail station.
Lane closed to traffic to promote social distancing, West River Road, Minneapolis.
Behind the A-Mill artists lofts, across the Mississippi from our home.
Railroad switch, a punch of color. I’ve only once seen a locomotive here; the train operator gave me a cheerful wave.
The previous day’s snow, dissipating.

Cycling

My bike (center), about to hit the road.
Trail crossing, Theodore Wirth Park.
Fruen Mill, Bassett Creek, near Theodore Wirth Park.
Minneapolis Institute of Art. Thousands of life jackets cover the columns to form an installation, “When Home Won’t Let You Stay.” Each life jacket was worn by a person fleeing war, mostly from Syria or Afghanistan. Some of those life jackets represent people who died in the process.
A new Prince mural, Minneapolis North Loop/Warehouse District.

Jogging

Rainbow over St. Anthony Falls, Mississippi River.
