Snapshots: Superior Hiking Trail 2019

This week, blue daubs guided us, as they do every year around this time. We stayed on the North Shore of Lake Superior in two lodges (at Lutsen and Tofte) and hiked sections of the Superior Hiking Trail.

The plan for each day was simple: take to the trails after a cooked breakfast. Two days started with rain, so we stayed indoors planning future trips until the rain cleared..

Often the trails were uneven, sometimes rugged, so we kept our eyes on the trail surface as we walked. Every time we looked up, there was plenty to catch our eyes.

Beavers make Lake Agnes bigger and deeper than it would be without the benefit of their dams. (See picture, top right, above.)

Much of the trails are in forests, but occasionally the view would open up.

One view inspired our only selfie.

Our trails took us alongside several rushing rivers, usually towards the end of a hike.
