Orchestra Hall at 50

At Orchestra Hall, admired a LEGO model of the venue, part of a display celebrating the building’s 50th anniversary. The model captures the auditorium’s angle relative to the rest of the building and the street grid, a tricky feat with LEGO. Inside the auditorium, we enjoyed a concert featuring Shostakovich, Bernstein, and a recent commission by Chinese American, Zhou Tian.

  1. This is really fun to see. Tricky to get all those details and that angle, which I didn’t know anything about. We get to go fairly often for grandchildren’s performances with GTCYS. Next time we’ll have to check it out!

    1. The model catches just enough detail for it to be unquestionably Orchestra Hall. I’ve tried to discover why the auditorium has that angle, but it’s still a mystery: maybe deflection of street sounds, but I don’t know. What a joy it must be to see your grandkids perform with GTCYS.
