Bullet Train to Cordoba
Took a bullet train to Cordoba.
Burial Chamber
Walked into a burial chamber that was built almost 6,000 years ago. The Dolmen of Menga, Antequera, Spain.
Cold Beer in a (Former) Convent
The boys and their mom stayed behind to shop in Antequera. The rest of us hiked a few miles to a former convent, now a hotel serving cold beer. Back at our Airbnb it was announced today is Uncles‘ Day. We refreshed ourselves with ice cream, and reserved cream cakes for later.
Unimpressed by Catenary
Lost in videogames, unimpressed by the catenary.

Colorful Sustenance
After wandering around uncrowded sights in Antequera, including a castle and a cathedral, the boys sought sustenance.
Thumb Exercise
Thumbs got plenty exercise, thanks to Nintendo, on an an inter-city bus from Granada to Antequera. We’ve rented a house for a week in Antequera, a less-touristy town with plenty history and a base for day trips by train.
The Alhambra
Explored the Alhambra. The ten-year-old was the most competent fixing problems with our audioguides, usually with a couple swipes of the screen.
Burning Energy in Granada
Somehow our nephews had energy for roughhousing in the hotel pool after riding an inter-city bus to Granada, a metro ride to the city center, and a strenuous walk, backpacks on backs, up the hill to our hotel, just outside the walls of the Alhambra.
We Rode This!!!
Walked through dramatic caves on the outskirts of Nerja. Missed a scheduled bus back to town, but managed to procure six seats in a coach pulled by this contraption. A banal commentary in three languages was compulsory, but we had a good laugh.
A Random Walk through Nerja
After dinner we walked. At each intersection, our nephews threw a coin in the air. Heads, we turned right, tails, left. Once, the coin rolled into a crack between cobblestones. After a failed attempt to lift a cobblestone, we walked straight ahead. The game ended at a gelateria.
View From Hotel
Took in the view from the balcony of our room in a parador (hotel) in Nerja, Spain.
Nodding off in Nerja
Arrived in Nerja, southern Spain, this morning, after an overnight flight. This evening, one-by-one, we succumbed to Morpheus.
TWA Flight Center
Between flights, explored the former TWA Flight Center at New York’s JFK Airport, now a hotel. Opened in 1962, it was designed by Finnish-American architect, Eero Saarinen.
Two Carnegie Libraries
Cycled to two Carnegie libraries in St. Paul.
Agricultural School
Cycled past agricultural fields at the University of Minnesota, St. Paul.
