Airside at MSP. Learned our connecting flight was delayed, and wouldn’t arrive at our destination until almost midnight Pacific. Changed the flights at no cost via the Delta app to tomorrow morning, then rode the LRT back home.
The sun rose over MSP while we waited to board our flight to Salt Lake City, en route to Palm Springs, California.
Walked to a trailhead two blocks from the main drag of Palm Springs, then started climbing.
Hiked the South Lykken Trail above Palm Springs. Steep climb, lovely views, well maintained trail.
After hiking Palm Canyon for several hours, it was back to our hotel for a nap. Night fell, dinner enjoyed, then, just tonight, the nightlife. After one beer in a piano bar for “friends of Dorothy” it was time (6:20 p.m.) to walk back for a cup of tea, birthday cake, then sleep.
Rode the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway to 8,500 feet. With one foot of snow on the ground, we abandoned our hiking plan. 7,000 feet lower, in Indian Canyons, we enjoyed an arduous, warm (75°F) hike up the Maynard Mine Trail, carefully avoiding cacti.
A Marie Kondo moment…My boots walked their final switchback today. It was time to part company after thanking them for the joy they’ve brought to my life.
