Long Drive, Short Hike

Today: long drive, short hike, our annual visit to the North Shore of Lake Superior. Tomorrow and Saturday our nephews (11 and 13) and their dad join us on the trails.

A Trip Untraveled

Did what I could’ve done months ago: cancelled a December trip to Hawaii we’d booked last March. Judging by the empty seats (middle seats are blocked, blue seats are available), people don’t want to travel. I’d snagged exit rows on all flights, but it was not to be.

Mississippi Bottom

This week a stretch of the the Mississippi below our home dropped by twelve feet. The US Army Corps of Engineers had temporarily lowered the river between two dams so they could inspect infrastructure. They also opened one of the dams to the public.
