Final Sunset of 2016

Stood on our porch, watching the 2016 sun go down for the last time.

Walked along the near-grayscale Kenilworth Trail.

Walked with friends beside the Mississippi.

Today: British Christmas cake baked by a friend visiting from the UK. Booze-fortified fruit cake, lots of marzipan, icing, evoked memories.

Pulled Christmas crackers containing flimsy paper hats, riddles and cheap plastic toys. A British tradition now available at Target stores.

Blue was the dominant color as I walked beside Lake of the Isles today.

Walked past hibernating canoes, Lake Calhoun.

-16° F (-27° C) at 8:00 a.m. I’m staying home under my blankie today.

Shoveled some of the 6 inches of snow that fell overnight.

Minstrels played in the gallery of a local supermarket while I bought supplies for a weekend of hunkering down from snow and extreme cold.
