As the temperature soared (slightly) above zero (Fahrenheit), emerged to buy supplies for dinner. Walked past the mound with spiral path at Gold Medal Park, which was devoid of snow.

First Lunch of 2019
Surly Furious and Summit EPA (local brews) plus Reubens. Lunch at our local (Maxwell’s), New Year’s Day 2019.
Horse and Carriage
On our walk home from dinner…
Covered Bridge
The University of Minnesota’s covered walkway across the Mississippi provided a welcome respite from rain and slush. Later, I was glad to warm up on one of the light rail trains that run on the lower deck of this bridge.
Christmas Food, UK-Style
Enjoyed Christmas pudding, ice cream, and whipped cream. Later we had Christmas cake which a friend made in the UK and managed to get through customs.
Patient Canoes
While I walked, canoes waited for the ice to melt on Lake of the Isles, Minneapolis.
Christmas Crackers
First Christmas gathering of the season at our nephews’ and their parents’ home. Our nephews had insisted on Christmas crackers (a British tradition). We’ve brought them up well.
British Seasonal Fare
British seasonal fare: Dwight made (sweet) mince pies and I made/assembled sausage rolls.
Horse-Drawn Carriage on Stone Arch Bridge
Walked back from dinner at Cafe Alma.
Decorations
These are our Christmas decorations. The marquee of The Guthrie, advertising “A Christmas Carol,” the “Gold Medal Flour” neon atop Mill City Museum, and the swoosh (lit path in Gold Medal Park) provide additional decoration. We will unbox our other decorations, Christmas 2019.
