Boots over New Zealand
Next week we’ll be hiking the Queen Charlotte Track a glorious ridge trail above sea-drowned valleys at the top of New Zealand’s South Island. It’s a comfortable tramp, just 43 miles over four days. Mystery Walk
Took a city bus to 40 blocks north of Downtown, then meandered back.
Abandoned Ice Sculptures
Walked past ice sculptures, probably survivors of a banquet, resting at the side of our path.
45th Parallel
Cycled in search of the 45th parallel. Found a rock, a plaque, and a lost glove.
Bike Tune
The mechanic replaced a damaged chain link then spun the wheel, over and over, while checking gear changes, back and forth, making minor adjustments. He then pumped up the tires. I continued the journey on my well-tuned bike, $10 lighter.
