Bike Tune

The mechanic replaced a damaged chain link then spun the wheel, over and over, while checking gear changes, back and forth, making minor adjustments. He then pumped up the tires. I continued the journey on my well-tuned bike, $10 lighter.

A Short Warm-Up

With temperatures soaring into the 40’s it was time for a bike ride. The Grain Belt Beer sign was erected in 1941.

Tonight in Onomichi, a bicycle hotel in a former warehouse: cycle to the front desk, bike rack on wall of room, repair shop, local beer.

Sakurajima Cycle

Took a ferry across this bay from Kagoshima to Sakurajima, an active volcano. Circled Sakurajima on a rented bicycle.

Paddlewheeler to New Orleans

Cycled the Cannon Falls Trail. Spotted this paddlewheeler, docked at Red Wing, en route to New Orleans. It entered service in 2015.
