Cycled past lakes, a creek, and a river, but the ride would not be complete without some urban rail trail.

Skateboard Jump
On a cycle ride with a friend visiting from the UK, spotted the Spoonbridge and Cherry sculpture reimagined as a skateboard jump ramp.
Historic Markers
Cycled through St. Paul’s Dayton’s Bluff neighborhood past Indian burial mounds built 1,500 to 2,000 years ago, and a historic aircraft beacon erected in 1929. The beacon still has a rotating light at the top. It’s one of many that once lit the route between Minneapolis and Chicago.
Abandoned Train Station
Cycled through an abandoned train station.
Products of Heavy Rain
Recent heavy rain explained the bike path along Minnehaha Creek being flooded in several places, and the Falls going full throttle.
Swede Hollow Henge
Rode the light rail with a friend and our bicycles to St. Paul, then explored points beyond. I hadn’t noticed Swede Hollow Henge before. Behind, the abandoned Hamms Brewery awaits a new purpose. Until the 1950’s this area was a shanty town with no electricity.
Simple Needs
Long cycle ride, bar lunch, short cycle ride, cup of tea, nap.
Min Hi Line
Pushed my bike alongside railroad tracks, following the route of a proposed cycle path, the Min Hi Line. These tracks once served several flour mills. Just one mill is still operating, producing one million pounds of flour every day.
Union Depot
Cycled to St. Paul’s Union Depot. Took the train home.
Shared Bikes
Rode shared bikes six times. They’re great for running errands around town.
