River Walk

Walked with a friend who was visiting from the UK. Crossed the Mississippi, still swollen with snowmelt.

Needs Must

Friends, visiting Minneapolis from Oregon, had to cancel our get-together because COVID hit. So, we opened bottles of wine and got together via Google Meet. The special bottle of New Zealand wine they’d brought for us was enjoyed remotely, but not by us.

Cemetery Stop

My friend, Dave, sometimes likes to include a cemetery on our Tuesday cycle rides. Today, at Hillside cemetery, we visited his Aunt Ruth, a beloved kindergarten teacher for 50 years. Her ashes were interred here in 2008.

Getting Richard Simmons Going

Connected a friend’s VCR to her new TV using a video-to-HDMI converter so she can play one tape: an exercise routine she enjoys. The aspect ratio is wrong (stretched) but it’s not distracting: Richard Simmons has had many girths over the years.

AV to HDMI

Assembled a kit for a friend to connect her VCR to a new television for playback. Remarkably, the AV to HDMI converter was delivered today, Sunday. I already had the other parts, so it’s good to know they’ll be put to good use

No Vowels Here

On a grey, drippy day, in a sleek place with no vowels in its name (FRGMNT), we chatted with a friend over coffee and the best donuts.

Preventing another concussion was probably not uppermost in his mind when a friend presented me with this old-time football helmet that had belonged to his uncle. Coincidentally, the Vikings football stadium is behind me.
